As of mid-2024, the Samsung 990 Pro and the WD Black SN850X are among the fastest consumer M.2 SSDs, both offering sequential read speeds up to around 7,400 MB/s using the PCIe 4.0 interface. For even higher speeds, the Corsair MP700 and Sabrent Rocket 5 take advantage of the new PCIe 5.0 standard, reaching sequential read speeds up to 10,000 MB/s, making them the fastest available M.2 SSDs for consumers.
