You cannot use just any USB-C cable to charge a MacBook Pro. To charge it safely and efficiently, you need a USB-C cable and power adapter that support the required power output (typically 60W or 96W, depending on your MacBook Pro model). Using a low-quality or underpowered cable or adapter may result in slow charging or may not work at all.
