MagSafe 2 was introduced by Apple in 2012 as a power connector for its MacBook line. While Apple hasn't officially announced a specific discontinuation date for MagSafe 2, it was largely phased out starting in 2016 with the introduction of USB-C charging in the MacBook Pro models. By 2021, Apple's newer MacBook models have transitioned to either USB-C or the reintroduced MagSafe 3 connector.
