MagSafe and MagSafe 2 power adapters are both designed for Apple laptops but differ primarily in their connector shape and compatibility. The original MagSafe has a thicker, T-shaped or L-shaped magnetic connector, while MagSafe 2 features a thinner, wider, and more streamlined T-shaped magnetic connector. Due to these design differences, MagSafe 2 is compatible with newer MacBook models, and adapters are needed to use MagSafe with MagSafe 2 ports.
